March & April Catch Up

Wow, not sure how I get so behind on my blog posts, but thought I'd do a quick update.

Jacob and Lindsey both moved the same week so I went down to see if I could be of any help. I decided to drive to Idaho. From my house to Portland it was raining so hard, I had second thoughts. When I got to Portland I called Russ and told him I was ready to turn around. Many times I could barely see the road! Just as I past Portland the weather improved and it was lovely the rest of the way.

I spent the first night at Jacob and Janette's and I couldn't believe how much they'd already got put away. I wasn't any help for them at all. They are great hosts and it was fun to go to their new ward with them. They already have a new calling to be the Webelos leaders.
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of their new home!

Tyrel and Lindsey's new home. Its in a beautiful spot and is very lovely with lots of room!!

Cute!!

A few of the boxes we unpacked!
Lindsey is a real "go getter" and organizer and had that house in shape in no time.

Crystal was a lifesaver and had all of us to dinner on Sunday. It was at a perfect time with everyone moving! She's a great hostess and fixed us a delicious dinner. The kids had a lot of fun playing together also.

One day Lindsey, the boys and I went to the Pioneer Museum in Rigby, Idaho. You know its a small town when you get there and its closed and a sign on the door says you can call a number and someone will come and let you in. The museum use to be a motel. Each of the rooms were put together by a different county in Idaho and then displayed history about it.

This room was all about Philo T. Farnsworth who invented the TV

You got to LOVE this machine to give perms!!

This picture of Joseph F. Smith on his 50th wedding anniversary was hanging up in the museum.

Here's a picture of the first Broulim's Grocery store in Rigby, Idaho.
They have a beautiful one there now!

I enjoyed my visit, but have to admit I'm getting old.  Driving 30 hours in 6 days by myself was too much for me. By the time I got to Chehalis I was done. It was raining hard again and the traffic was bad so I stopped and got a hotel. I know I'm crazy....I was literally an hour from home!! I told Russ I wouldn't be good company. I pulled in at 8:00 pm, brushed my teeth and climbed into bed. I felt much better the next morning!!

The day after I got home from Idaho, Russ and I drove to Portland to pick up my parents.....he drove!! It was a lovely day so we took them to Horsetail Falls and Multnomah Falls. We then did a little shopping and went out to lunch. They were only here 4-5 days, but it was a really nice visit.

After dropping off my parents to go home we went to the Portland Temple and all the flowers were in bloom!

We had some bluejays build a nest right outside our bedroom window. I was so excited that we would be able to watch the whole process. This dedicated mother sat on this nest pretty much nonstop for almost 3 weeks and then disappeared a couple of days ago! Russ went out to check the nest and there were no eggs in it??? We know the eggs never hatched, because we've been watching everyday! Not sure what happened, but we were both disappointed!!

Russ is the BEST! I really wanted to go to the Tulip Festival, as always, and he was a good sport to go with me. When I kept saying how beautiful they were, he'd say, "yes, they look the same as last year." Ha Ha  Seriously, can anyone look at flowers too much???  It's a 2-3 hour drive each way, but we spent the night & had a great time.

One day our Stake RS Presidency spent the entire day at the lake house and finished putting together our "Days For Girls" kits we started on last summer. We finally reached our goal of putting together 300 kits!!! Now Heather and I are working on somewhere to deliver them ourselves. I'm SOOOO grateful for all the women in our Stake who spent countless hours helping to sew all of them!!

Last week Wes had to go to California for work. Kristy suggested I come out for a visit. It was such a nice week!! I got to go see Jazlyn at school be in a couple competitions for, "Battle of the Books." The teams have to read around 20 books and then they get asked questions about them. They did a great job!!

I bought this shirt for Shelten and it says, Totally Awesome on it. The whole day he went around saying, "I'm totally awesome." It was so cute!

Kristy has 17 piano students now and 3 more on her waiting list. I was fortune enough to be there for one of her piano recitals. She had it at the church, although she only has one boy who is a member. The cool thing was that the whole RS room was full from everyone's families coming. She did a great job with the whole recital and all the kids did really good.
I can still remember when she started taking lessons years ago in Germany. She's always loved playing and we rarely had to get after her to practice. She has definitely shared her talent over the years and blessed many lives from it.

I can't believe our oldest and only granddaughter is going to turn 12 this summer! Jazlyn has become such a beautiful young lady and we are so proud of her. She's so good about reading her scriptures everyday and shares the gospel when she has the chance. Good job Jazlyn!!

One day Kristy got the kids out of school early and we went to the Toy and Miniature Museum.

Kristy & Shelten

No trip to Kansas is complete without going to Kansas City Joes barbecue!!

Sure love these crazy kiddos!!

Other fun things we did was: Bake, play games, read stories, pull weeds, play hop scotch, exercise several days, watched the BBC movie of Pollyanna (couldn't believe how much she reminded us of Cari's daughter Jane) and a couple late evenings Kristy and I painted her hallway and bathroom. The weather was perfect, the birds were singing, it was awesome!!
So thankful for my beautiful kids, their spouses and grandkids & a husband who lets me visit them frequently. They make my life complete!!

  4. That was a lot of travel by car in such a short time. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the BBC version of "Pollyanna." It reminded me so much of Jane I took it to watch with the family on one of our trips there. Congrats to Kristy with all those students. She is making the world a better place by teaching children to love music.
