I have been wanting to do this post since Jacob got married on Aug. 15th, but life has been crazy. We are leaving in the morning for Europe to go hiking in the Alps so I was determined to do this tonight!!
On August 12th all of my children, their spouses and our grandchildren flew to San Diego. We went a couple of days early so we could spend a little time as a family. As always the time went way too fast, but I will cherish the time we had together.
The night we arrived Janette's family was kind enough to have all 14 of us over to dinner. This was the first time we've met any of her family and they are lovely people. They fixed us a delicious Mexican meal that all of us devoured! They live in Escondido and have a beautiful home that over looks the valley. The grandkids had a blast there and it was good to finally meet her parents.
The next day Kristy and her family went to Legoland with Wes' brother and his two daughters.
Lindsey's family, Jared, Russ & I went to the San Diego zoo. I seriously don't know how the average family takes their family to places like this. It was $260 for 7 of us to go to the zoo & two of them were kids. It was a fun day though & the kids loved seeing all of the animals.
One of the highlights was seeing the Panda bears.
Grandma & Halter
Our ticket included riding the monorail.
When these Cheetahs are babies they put puppies in with them & they grow up together as friends. They say the dogs help calm the Cheetahs when people are around.
The next day all of us toured the Navy ship "Midway."

One of the funnest things we did was all go to Coronado beach together. The kids had a blast and I had just as much fun watching them.

On Sat. Aug. 15, 2015 Jacob & Janette were sealed in the San Diego temple. Its hard to describe what a special ceremony it was and especially sweet to have all my children in the sealing room together. My cup runneth over:)
These first few pictures were taken a few months ago by a lady Jacob knew from his mission. She was kind enough to go to San Diego and take these for free. They turned out really beautiful and we displayed several of them at their open house here.

This tree was in front of the temple. I'm not sure what kind it is, but it was beautiful!!

The reception was held at Janette's Aunt and Uncle's home. It was in Vista and overlooked the valley and was decorated beautiful. Many of my family members commented that it was the funnest reception they've ever been to.
So grateful my parents were able to come.
Matt, Jared, Christine, Ashley & Tyler
I feel so blessed that many of my extended family members made the effort to come and celebrate with us. It meant a lot!!
Here's a four generation picture.
We were so glad Jan & John came. They were the sole Larsen representatives.
The happy couple!!

They have a tradition where you pin money on the bride or groom to dance with them. They received
over $500 in dance money!

Lindsey & Kristy dancing with their boys:)
Tytyn & Jazlyn
I couldn't get Russ to dance a fast one with me so Tyrel was a good sport and went out. We were
really swinging.

I love this picture. At the end of the night I realized I didn't get a picture with all my cute grandkids. I wanted one & didn't care they were WAY past their bedtime. Does it look like we had some tired kids or what? Probably because the reception was from 6:00-10:30. It was so amazing though and everyone had a GREAT time!! What a perfect day:)
Jacob and Janette are such a beautiful couple. The reception looks amazing!! Sounds like Russ and Matt are similar- not a fan of dancing. Also you and I are similar-- love to dance!! So glad to hear you were all able to spend some quality time together before the reception. The zoo, beach and San Diego sights all look like a great time.
ReplyDeleteSeriously one of the most fun trips ever!!! Thank you so much for everything! I'm so glad we were able to be there for Jacob's special day, it was so amazing! Love you! Have fun on your trip!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved all of the pictures! So glad we could be there for this special occasion and have some family time. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI loved the beach pictures. You have a gift for seeing a photo op! Everything looks so beautiful. (Especially the bride and groom.) Great post!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great trip. It was a privilege to be with your family for this very sacred event. We really enjoyed sharing your joys.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! What a wonderful wedding. So beautiful! Glad you got so much family time together too. The picture of Kristy with a tear in her eye made me cry too.
ReplyDeleteI feel so bad that we couldn't be there. Michael and Diana reception in Mexico was the funnest reception I have ever been to. Now you know why the Smithsonian in DC are so great. I went to the Smithsonian Zoo and saw a Panda for nothing. You are so blessed to have your whole family together in the temple. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you posted pictures of the reception and wedding. I have been dying to receive them. That home is beautiful where they had the reception. I am so happy for them!
