Beautiful Kauai

This year Russ chose to come to Kauai for his Continuing Education. I quickly agreed to be his roommate. We arrived on Saturday to "flood watch warnings" and by Sunday morning the staff at the Hyatt where we're staying was putting sand bags outside our sliding glass doors. I decided I was NOT going to let the rain discourage me or ruin my vacation! Its still 75-80 degrees.

Sunday morning we went to church and were fed spiritually by the talks and members. In R.S. the local sisters gave each of the visiting sisters a lei they had crocheted out of yarn. I thought that was such a nice heart felt gift. I'm sure they have tons of visitors. I think there were 10 or 12 visitors just the day we were there.

Yesterday was cloudy, but warm and we spent most of the day driving along the coast and visiting points of interest. We were rewarded with beautiful views and vistas!

This morning I woke up to the roar of the ocean waves and a beautiful sunrise! Life is good!!

This is part of the 52 acre grounds at the Hyatt where we're staying.

Wai'oli Hui ia Church

I loved the stained glass windows.

We stopped here at Salt Pond State Park and had a picnic.

These parrots were just sitting in the trees inside the Hyatt. All the kids around loved them.

Waimea Canyon

Waipoo Falls

I love all the beautiful trees covered in bright colored flowers.

Russ and I went to Poipu Beach today to go snorkeling.

  2. Matsen just looked at all of the pictures with me and I wish you could have heard him "Look at that beautiful tree!!" "That place looks so beautiful!!" It was really cute. I'm glad you guys are having a fabulous time. Matsen couldn't recognize you and Dad on the beach with your hats and shades on. He said, "Those people look super familiar."

  3. These are just fabulous scenes. Kauai was one of the nicest vacations we've ever experienced too. Rains more there than anyplace on earth and is so green. We took a helicopter ride over the Pauli Coast and the cliffs were covered with mist. I still remember thinking this must be what heaven is like. Enjoy your week. You guys sure do exotic and fun stuff all the time.
